Drat.

Rian's old publisher is making noises again. This puts Rian in a Bad Mood.

A) Because they tend to pop up and make noises every once in a while until Rian ignores them or signs something and

B) Because the book they want to put on the shelves again is one Rian is not proud of. It feels rather like being asked to post naked pictures of one's worst Chicken Poxesque day online and

C) Because the three hours Friday morning Rian has recently started realloting Self for enjoyable writing (I.E. Bliss) will no doubt be taken up by revisiting old stuff if Rian canna ignore them into silence again.

Truth be told, this morning Rian did not exactly ignore. Rian mailed back: "I can't say I think this manuscript is in publishable form." Rian had to look up the spelling of 'publishable' so as to not look the complete fool.

Ah, to be able to ignore pubishers...

No, I'm just kidding. *grin*

You don't have to put that old book out again. If you're not proud of it, tell them that you're working on something else and you don't feel like putting it aside to deal with the old stuff.

Have they replied to your email?

I (who have been priveledged to read said book, Because Rian sent it to me by accident - hee!) found it quite interesting and it really stuck with me. So many books don't. The subject is so topical now (ecological disaster, biotechnology, emerging disease) much more so than when it was first published. I maintain that not tons of rewriting will be needed. I think everyone else should have the to read it in a cleaned up form.

Pfft. Biased. There is not a linear correlation between how much I like someone and how much I like what they write.

I am afraid to ask, but is this the publisher that I helped to find you? But my fear won't prevent me from *whining* Heather got to read it and I didn't?

Yessss, Mater. And Rian shall blame only you and not mySelf or Someone Else (who forced Rian to resign) when they republish it as porn in the Chinese Underground.

Got any more publishers up your sleeve, M&O? If you find any lying around, there are a few more of us who could really use one...

Really, it is all Rian's fault. She alluded to a book she had written-- what choice did I have except to do exhaustive internet searches to find the publisher and contact them to find out if I could get a copy? He never *did* get me a copy, either.
