Kites
They have locked Young Black Sheep out of the house, today. Changed all the locks, taken back his car, sent him out into the world with his choices. As he is over eighteen, they say, there is nothing else that can be done.
Where will he go? And how did they find the strength to do it?
Sometimes I wonder what possesses one to become a parent.
And then Rian remembers that life comes with no guarantees no matter where one stands in time or place.

Back a few days, so who knows if you'll see it... but, hey--
That is a very difficult thing for them to do. I applaud them for their strength. It should be good for Young Black Sheep, at least it will make continuing in this manner more difficult. Even if it is not good for him, it is good for his parents not to get themselves enmeshed. Or, keep themselves as un-enmeshed as it is possible for parents to be.
I am not sure I could do it.
I hope I will never have to.
But perhaps we find strength in odd places. I imagine they are trying to remember that, beyond parents, they are PEOPLE. Not defined by the child. Able to do the correct thing.
Although YBS's mother still cannot admit to her friends that he is no longer enrolled. When the subject comes up. she tells the questioner that he is doing well in class.
