Call me strange, but I get the image of a forlorn football supporter bravely clutching their team colours whenever I hear that song. Wishing for the season's end after a year of supporting someone crap, like Collingwood. *grin*
It's actually about his father, who died, I think.
"Except that it's nearly the worst song on the album and the radio plays it too much...yes."
What what what?! You're crazy, it's a lovely song, much better than some of the other ones (tries to remember names.... eh). And the video is quite nice as well.
I am not crazy! Well...even if I am, it has no bearing on the matter in question.
I will admit there are worse songs on the album. But there are several far better. It's just...so repetitive. And Green Day are better when they have a bit of kick to them. When they begin to sound like Travis I start to worry...
And October...well, I like its name. But in British reality it's chilly and wet and windy and grey and getting steadily darker. And by the end of it everything's dead.

*nods sagely* So true, so true.

Well except then you wake up in October.
Would somebody wake me up when it's Christmas?
Twas the sentiment of the line that grabbed Rian.
As I rather adore October.

I read that as :"And by the end of it everyone's dead."
I'm sure I don't remember October to be that ferocious.
It is a lovely song. But I love September. I want to be wide, wide awake through the whole of it.
